Jack Taylor
Jimmy Winkfield, Marshall Taylor, and Jack Johnson
by
Cason Williams
There are three athletes narratives that I will briefly profile from over a century ago; Jimmy Winkfield, Marshall Taylor, and Jack Johnson. Jimmy Winkfield was known as the "Black Maestro" of the racetrack. He was the last great African-American jockey in the post slavery era. During slavery, most of the jockeys were actually African-American because they were forced by their slave owners.

Taylors Expression System
by
Richard W Carter
There was a real treat at the Winter NAMM show a year ago by the Taylor Guitars booth. The master of analog electronic design Rupert Neve was at an MI show. Unhappy with the performance of acoustic guitar electronics, Bob Taylor teamed his pickup designer David Hosler with Rupert Neve to create a system that could capture the sound and nuances of an acoustic guitar.

Music For Babies - Better Together With Jack Johnson
by
Robert DeLuca
Being raised on the beaches of Southern California, I can appreciate the many talents of this singer-songwriter, film maker and surfer. Now all you beach bunny moms can share Johnson's music with your little ones. Roma Music's Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star series has just released "Lush Lullaby Renditions of Jack Johnson". 10 beautifully crafted lullaby music for babies.

Stingy Jack - Book Review
by
Heather Froeschl
Give the devil his due; he is a temptation. Luring souls into sin is his game, the prize being the souls to claim. In "Stingy Jack" by R. Scott Taylor, two souls may be about to escape the clutches of Old Scratch. One has been roaming the earth for centuries, the other may be about to do the same.

Interview with Jack Eadon - Author of "The Armstrong Solution"
by
Juanita Watson
With very public corporate fiascos such as the Enron scandal dominating news headlines in today's world, corporate corruption has not only become a hot topic, but an everyday reality. In fact, the plot of Jack Eadon's novel, "The Armstrong Solution," may even sound plausible to many readers, which makes for an all the more exciting read. "The Armstrong Solution" paints a vivid and realistic picture of corporate corruption, strengthened by Eadon and his wife's own experiences within the corporate world, where competition and a desire to get ahead are prevalent. Kathy is no exception, as she struggles to rise above the arrogant, male-dominated corporation. Her attempts to break through this deceitful glass ceiling in Eadon's perfectly cinematic story will hold readers captivated in suspense all the way to the surprising and unpredictable grand finale. The epilogue is even better and closes the novel in a wonderfully quiet, but satisfying, way.

The Riderless Horse in American Presidents' Funerals
by
Don N Walters
Although American presidents don't die often, they do eventually, and when they do, there's occasionally a horse in their futures. In the state funeral conducted for a late president in Washington, a horse-drawn caisson bearing the casket is followed in the procession by a soldier leading a riderless horse who wears a saddle with black cavalry boots turned backward in the stirrups and a sword in scabbard hanging from the saddle's right side. The ceremonial riderless horse is a tradition that has roots in antiquity, and in America, the custom was observed in the funeral procession for the nation's very first president, George Washington. This is the story of that riderless horse in American history, from 1799 to the present day.
