Dr Who -The Early Days and Now
by
Allan Mayer
The cliche which stuck to the Dr. Who of the sixties was one of children hiding from the Daleks behind the settee (or sofa, depending on where you came from.) This in itself is a cultural/economic comment. These days you cannot always hide from the daleks from behind the furniture, because it is probably against the wall. In early 1960's Britain your settee would have been away from the wall and in front of the TV and fireplace because you would not have had central heating.

It was actually originally intended to be an educational series, but turned out to be a brilliant series where a time traveller known as 'The Doctor' travels through time and space in the Tardis, a 'police-box'.

by
Carolyn Clayton
Just like anything else you experience for the first time, they say you never forget your first Doctor. In the last fifty years there have been eleven actors to take on the televised role of Doctor Who. Doctor Who Trivia Nights - The Ultimate Challenge for Whovians
by
Carolyn Clayton
Doctor Who has been on television for almost fifty years. It has existed in that time not only as a live action series but as a series of novels, a series of continuing audio adventures, countless comic book stories and even a handful of animated specials; not to mention the handful of spin-offs which exist on screen and in novels for the series itself. Doctor Who if anything is a rich science fiction universe.

Doctor Who Toys
by
Pat Higgins
Have you been a follower of the cult TV series, 'Doctor Who' and wondered how it all began? The BBC decided it would be a good idea to have a science fiction programme for young people to watch on a Saturday night and after much planning, came up with the idea of 'Doctor Who', a doctor who could travel through space and time in a capsule called the Tardis, which resembled a Police box.
