Brad Pitt is Not the Hottest Guy in Quentin Tarantino's Latest
by
Erin O'Riordan
I recently saw the Quentin Tarantino-written and directed film Inglourious Basterds (the bad spelling is Tarantino's, not mine!) for the first time. It was pretty good, if you don't mind quite a lot of gory violence.

Review: 12 Years a Slave
by
Jaskee Hickman
The story in 12 Years a Slave focuses on Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), an African-American who was born and raised as a free man in the northeastern region of the United States of America. It's based on his personal account of the 12 years that he spent as a slave in the southern parts of America. 1841 was the year that he first ran into his unfortunate while living in Sarasota, New York with his wife and two children. He's living a good life at this point and is regarded as a talented violinist by those that he considers to be friends, family and associates.

Review: Shame (2011)
by
Jaskee Hickman
Brandon Sullivan (Michael Fassbender) is a 30-something year old who is living the life that he wants to in New York City. He has a good job, he lives alone and he gets to have emotionless sex with countless women. That's all great for him, but he has two problems to deal with. His estranged sister Sissy (Carey Mulligan) comes back to town and needs a place to stay for a while and he's also a sex addict. Once his sister moves in, things go out of whack for Sullivan and he slowly, but surely begins to lose control of his carefully constructed life.

Prometheus Review
by
Rosie Kinsella
Just one day into its official UK release and Ridley Scott's long awaited return to Sci-fi with a prequel to one of the defining films of not only his career but to the genre as a whole, is already provoking a variety of mixed reactions. Firstly let's address the Xenomorph in the room here, this is not Alien and despite Scott's statements dictating this, those expecting the same tone and style as well as succumbing to the extraterrestrial levels of hype will inevitably be disappointed.

Movie Review: Haywire (2012)
by
Joel Massie
We've seen actresses like Angelina Jolie embody the tough-as-nails, ass-kicking spy in "Salt" and Scarlett Johannson don the Black Widow's garb and dish out her fair share of martial arts mayhem in Iron Man 2. Oftentimes seeing women like this in methodically staged fights requires a more strained suspension of disbelief. With Haywire, we finally find an action film with the novel idea of actually casting a believable actress to portray its former marine-turned contract killer heroine.

We Need to Talk About David From Prometheus
by
Simone Cromer
The character of the android, David, in Prometheus was the most exciting character of this great film. But there was something very interesting about him... I believe he was more human than his peers and creator thought.

Hunger (New DVD Review)
by
Maxwell Anderson
Hunger is an arty film about hunger strikers in a prison in Northern Ireland. I know what you're thinking... why would I want to see this? Well, I'll tell you. It's gorgeous to look at; it's a true story that is underrepresented in American and international press; you've got to see the dedicated and unnerving performance by Michael Fassbender, who, after Inglourious Basterds and Fish Tank, is fast making his name as one of the most gifted and versatile actors of his generation.

Movie Review - Shame (2011) (NC-17)
by
Chris Pandolfi
Brandon (Michael Fassbender) is an addict. His drug is not heroin, cocaine, meth, or alcohol, but sex. Although he can function in social scenarios, he's hindered by uncontrollable urges, and his only fix is to have an orgasm. He needs this many times a day just to get back up to normal. Several shots of his face throughout the film make it clear that the sensation has long since stopped giving him pleasure. One near the end, for example, which captures the moment of climax, reveals despair and self-loathing.

Movie Review - A Dangerous Method (2011) (R)
by
Chris Pandolfi
Sabina Spielrein was one of the first female psychoanalysts, a fascinating achievement given the fact that she was committed to a mental institution for an entire year. After studying medicine and child psychology in Zurich, graduating in 1911, and getting elected into the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society, she proposed an idea in 1912, namely that the human sexual drive contained both an instinct of destruction and an instinct of transformation.

by
Jaskee Hickman
In this film, a group of explorers are hired to go through space to find out if there is life outside of Earth. They're asked to perform this task in hopes of discovering the clues of mankind's creation. When they land on a planet that they believe they might be able to make contact, they discover that they might not be alone.
