Fantasy Hockey - Rookie Report

Gary J. Wilson
It's been a relatively slow season in terms of significant rookie impact in the fantasy hockey realm this year. Often times, the cream of the crop will rise during the last 6 weeks of the season. So let's take a look at which rookies figure to have the biggest fantasy impact over the final month of the season.

Who Came Out on Top?
by
Josh Lind
June 28, 2009 From: http://lind-hockey.blogspot.com While the 2009 NHL entry draft may not have been as explosive as some would have liked, there were definitely a few teams who made a splash. Trade rumours always abound leading up to the draft, but this year we were hearing the names of guys like Tomas Kaberle, Chris Pronger, Jay Bouwmeester, Vincent Lecavalier, Dany Heatley, Phil Kessel, Alexander Frolov, Mike Cammalleri, Martin Havlat, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere. In the end, only Pronger and (the rights to) Bouwmeester were moved.

What I Have Noticed
by
Brian Gattie
John Tavares, Steven Stamkos, and Patrick Kane, hardly household names, in fact I'm willing to bet that if you were to approach an average person on the street, few of them would recognize any of these names. So who are they? Tavares, Stamkos, and Kane have all been chosen first overall in the National Hockey Leagues (NHL) Entry Draft over the past three seasons, respectively. In contrast, if I were to mention names such as Matthew Stafford, Jake Long, or JaMarcus Russell, who were all chosen first overall in the National Football Leagues (NFL) Entry Draft over the past three seasons, a greater number of random participants would be able to identify these individuals, but why?

2010-11 New York Islanders NHL Predictions and Odds
by
Nicholas Tolomeo
There are two ways to look at the New York Islanders current situation. There is the positive of an 18-point increase from the 2008-09 season to last year, but a third straight Atlantic Division last-place finish also lets you know just how far the Islanders have to go.

With the Devils and Penguins leading the Division with 28 points, the Flyers, Rangers and Islanders are all tied with 23. With that being said the whole division is only separated by five points.
