Basant Panchami has a peculiar meaning where "Basant" means spring and "Panchami" means the fifth day of the spring season. This auspicious day of Basant Panchami is solemnly dedicated to Goddess Saraswati also known as 'Saraswati Jayanti'. Goddess Saraswati is portrayed as speckless lady dressed in white attire, white flowers and white pearls.
