Are the Minnesota Vikings Really This Good?

The Minnesota Vikings are in the midst of what looks like a dream season. After Brett Favre had a heroic win a few weeks back that saw him bring the Vikings a win with a last minute touchdown against the Bengals, the Minnesota Vikings followed up this win with a big victory against the Packers, Brett Favre's former team. This was a very dramatic game, and one that Favre wanted badly.

Its Been a Bumpy Road For Us! (True Minnesota Vikings Fans)

Being born in the late 1970's, I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to witness first hand the Viking's success in 1969 when they went 12-2 (the best record in the N.F.L.), and held the longest single-season winning streak with 12 straight victories. Have our prayers been answered? With the Vikings off to a 9-1 start this season, and a strong hold of the N.F.C. North, it appears so.

Talk is rampant about the possibility of acquiring quarterback Jay Cutler. In a perfect world, I wouldn't write an analysis or give my overview of the 2010 Minnesota Vikings schedule until late August, which is probably when Brett Favre makes his return "official" - with LeBron James finally deciding his NBA future, now it's Favre's "will he or won't he" that probably dominates the sports headlines for a while. But we all know he's playing this year because he already has had ankle surgery that he wouldn't have needed if he wasn't going to play football. And he's also out throwing to high schoolers in Mississippi.

The last thing Brett Favre wants to hear is wide receiver woes for the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, that is what everyone is talking about. Who is Favre going to be throwing to this season? It has been reported that Favre's favorite target, Pro Bowl wide receiver Sidney Rice, underwent surgery on his hip Monday in Vail Colorado. He injured his hip last season in the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints. He May miss up to half the season.
