Paid To Passage Straits Of Malacca
by

Moreover, the amount to be paid is a mere drop in the ocean and won't threaten their bottom line. The stepped-up naval patrols and aerial surveillance by Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore have been effective in reducing piracy, but these are expensive affairs and so are the buoys, lighthouses and other navigation aids, and the measures to clean up oil spills. Since the littoral states have taken purposeful measures to come to grips with the issues of safety, security and pollution, it is incumbent on the international maritime community to lend them a hand. It is time the shipping industry took on board the idea that it too should contribute financially to the upkeep of one of the world's busiest sea lanes.

Strait of Malacca

The Pyres and the Fires in a World littered with information point to the scarce resources of understanding. Wisdom it is said is not reflected in the simple exercise of compiling and quoting facts and figures, rather wisdom is very much about how facts align and combine, and it requires good intelligence but the principle thing is to apply it well, and it is only possible if the leadership displays an engaging combination of sophisticated dry wit and cornball humor-a profound reverence for all things logical and a foul taste for the imbecility and scuttle butting. Doing so will...

A Visit To The Historical City of Malacca in Malaysia
by
Alvin Lee Holmes
Malacca is one of the states inside Malaysia, and it is also known as one of the smallest ones. However, Malacca's history cannot be measured by its size. In fact, Malacca is the place which is where the strongest South East Asian kingdom in the 15th century is located. The seas here are facing the Straits of Malacca and during its prime, this strait was the most strategic place for ships and travellers to cross to the other side of the world. This is because it is protected from harsh and extreme winds and there are also less pirate activities here.

History of Malaysia in a Nutshell
by
Gerard Lawrence
Malaysia's history largely began in a place called Malacca, when a fourteenth-century Palembang prince by the name of Parameswara fleeing from the Srivijayan empayar, escaped to the island of Temasik- now known as Singapore. There, he established himself as king by courting a local princess and later sought refuge in the Malay peninsular. It was here that while resting under a Melaka tree Parameswara witnessed an extraordinarily bizarre phenomenon right before his very own eyes; he saw a mouse deer outwitting his dog. Hence he took what he saw as a good omen and decided to establish a kingdom called Malacca there.
