Tom Hanks' character, Captain John Miller, has become an inspiration and example for me in my attempts to become a better manager. I learn something new each time that I watch this character in the movie.

Buffalo Sabres Mid-October 2008 Report
by
Charles Priore
With three Centers out of the lineup (Gaustad, Hecht, and Connelly), the Sabres remain undefeated (4-0) here on October 17th. Reminiscing the Sabres of two seasons ago, where one call up from Rochester after another seemed to gain momentum for the team, these Sabres could be the real thing.

On Fighting In Hockey
by
Jon N Dean
Hockey is like a steam boiler. There is so much potential explosive violence it requires a safety pressure relief valve. Fighting is hockey's pressure relief valve.

Leadership and Influence Processes
by
Ryan Strayer
How do executives affect their respective organizations? This question has been asked by many top researchers in the field of leadership. Hambrick (2007) believes those leaders within the upper echelons behave on the foundation of their personal views and understanding of "strategic situations", as well as their cultural values, personal experiences and individual personalities. This has been the basis of the upper echelon theory for many years, which was developed on the principle of bounded rationality (Cyert
March, 1963; March
Simon, 1958). However, regardless of these types of utterly complex situations and "uncertain situations" (Mischel, 1977), leaders within the upper echelon of an organization have specific processes through which they can influence and change an institution.

Six Non-1st Round Rookies To Consider In Fantasy Football
by
Denis Krusos
Most fantasy football players will be concentrating on the big-name rookies selected in the 1st round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd and Doug Martin are the obvious rookies to consider adding to your fantasy team. However, often there are rookies taken after the 1st round who have surprisingly productive seasons and outperform the more heralded ones.

Generations of Change
by
Marc Gunn
Ed Miller is back with a new CD, and I have to say it is brilliant. Ed is my absolute favorite Scottish folk revivalist. He brings together traditional folk songs while keeping the fire burning for the contemporary Scottish songwriters from Andy M. Stewart to Adam McNaughtan.
