Posthumanism in John Carpenter's The Thing
by
Carl Doherty
Society has always held a curiosity for the non-conformal body, the deviant, the abomination, and the monster. From Beowulf's Grendel, the Victorian sideshow freak and Victor Frankenstein's laboratory creation, and through to the modern cinematic creations such as Giger's Alien, the posthuman has both fascinated and appalled. In some cases, such as with Mary Shelley's unfortunate beast, the monster has garnered pity; a misunderstood misfit that is sympathised more than it is feared.

The Poetry of John Keats - A Celebration of Beauty, Classicism and Romantic Richness
by
Lopa Bhattacharya
Being an ardent lover of poetry, to be more specific, romantic poetry, I have always been fascinated with the sense of oneness I feel with the poets' world. Romantic poetry, for some of its major attributes like pictorial quality, imagery, mysticism, absorption in the beauty and life of nature, classical features and above all, celebration of beauty and aestheticism---has a huge amount of appeal to the highly refined and sophisticated readers of all times.

Morning of Fire Written By Scott Ridley
by
Cy Hilterman
It is hard to put this excellent book into words other than to say that I felt like I was living history as I read every page. I will tell you that this is not a fictional sensationalized story involving unknown criminals, detectives, police, murderers, or any of today's perverse activities. It is fact filled mostly from actual logs from old ships, governments, or in some situations what the author felt did actually occur.

Prometheus Review - Symbols and Themes
by
Jordan S. Sparks
Prometheus, directed and produced by Ridley Scott, had quite a bit of hype, especially from me. It was great, and had a few plot holes in the second half that didn't quite ruin it, but were unpleasant. Many viewers will not "get it" if they have not seen and remember the original Alien movie. This covers some of the numerous thematic elements seen in the film.

Robin Hood - The Latest Interpretation of the English Archer
by
Madan G Singh
The latest film on the eternal English legendary archer Robin Hood is a film with a difference as far as the genre of Robin hood films are concerned. Most Robin Hood films deal with the adventures of Robin Hood as per the popular perceptions. However this film dovetails the life of Robin Hood before he was declared an outlaw by King john.

Robin Hood (2010) Movie Review
by
John Campagna
A favorite story of mine from my childhood was Robin Hood. For anyone who does not know, Robin Hood is a heroic outlaw in English folklore. A highly skilled archer and swordsmen Robin Hood became an outlaw upon returning from King Richard the Lionheart's crusade.

Are There No Original Thoughts Left in Hollywood?
by
Shiromi Arserio
Is Hollywood getting lazy? Lately, all the movies coming out have seemed like prequels, sequels and reboots. Where's the originality? Is there any left? Inter-Galaxy-Portal looks at District 9, Avatar and the Forever War- the few original movies left for moviegoers to look forward to in Hollywood.

Malta - Europe's Gladiatorial Arena
by
James Rozel
Malta is a deceptively small island but one boasting a rich, complex and turbulent past. Its strategically critical location, at the crossroads of the western and eastern Mediterranean, has made it a prized and contested possession throughout most of recorded history.

Dark Star (1974) Review
by
Jonathan K. King
Dark Star is an entertaining science trip to mid 21st century space, with some interesting characters who have serious communication problems. Not everybody might have a taste for the film though, since it's a low budget sci-fi with a humorous angle.
