The Human Interface - How Will the Next Generation Computers and Phones Adapt to Us?
by
Mac McKinley
In a recent interview, Bill Gates was asked what the next big thing in computers and software might be. His answer was that it would be all about how humans interact with computers and other digital devices. Frankly, I am not sure what kind of interface I would want in my next computer and/or phone. I hate using my notebook computer's keyboard and use a third party wireless keyboard and mouse in its place.

When Does an Embryo Acquire Human Rights?
by
Katherine Harms
"At what point does a baby get human rights?" When Rick Warren asked this question of the presidential candidates in 2008, the answers were miles apart. This question is central to the debate surrounding the possibility that embryonic stem cells, hold the promise to cure many diseases. We must ask if an embryo has the right to life that we automatically attribute to a patient with diabetes.

Discover Why We Are So Busy Trying To Deny Our Humanity In Order To Become Machines Instead
by
Devon K
In modern society it's become unacceptable to be "human". We're not allowed to get sick, feel emotions, or show weakness of any kind. As a result most people have opted to try and become a machine instead. Unfortunately to be able to perform this transformation we have to sacrifice almost everything that makes us who we are.

Human Brain Power Demystified
by
Ewen C
The human brain is a mysterious and almost uncharted realm. Despite the many technological advances and discoveries human beings have made, the human brain is still a mystifying entity. It is the most complex of most organs, the most powerful among them, as well. So many questions regarding the human brain are still left unanswered.

The Big Bang and the Human Need to Move
by
Peter Sontowski
The big bang that created the universe also created motion. Not only do planets move around each other and galaxies either move away from each other or toward each other all living things also move. Since the dawn of modern humans in Ethiopia humans have found it necessary to move. In time they populated the entire planet. Now, 160,000 years later, the planet is populated by 6,500,000,000 present humans of great diversity. This required multitudes of mutations to produce the evolution that has created the different races that now inhabit the planet. The Ice-Age collapsed between 10,000 and 8,000 years ago. This gave rise to civilization about 6,000 years ago. The cradle of civilization is generally acknowledged to have been in Mesopotamia. Civilization has brought about the formation of urban societies or urban settlements. These were connected by numerous caravan routes. Present day societies are connected by an elaborate transportation network which allows free movement of goods and people. Present day humans are in danger of extinction because of pollution, depletion of non-renewable resources and global warming. It could very well be that we will all be gone in another 160,000 years.

Universals Of The Human Condition 2
by
John Prytz
It's pretty obvious that all humans share with all other humans various but fundamental universals. We all have a biological mother and father for example. One normally however associates every human being and every human society as unique in terms of their worldview. Yet there remain certain universals (like mom and dad) seemingly shared across the board by the great majority of individuals. Some of these universals were explored earlier; let's explore several more universals common to the human condition.

Higher Technical Education: Distinctiveness of Humanities, Indian English, and ESP
by
Ram Krishna Singh
Teaching of the subjects of Humanities and social sciences is significant in higher technical education for developing spiritual insight, balanced personality, critical aptitude, and positive growth of knowledge in the emerging digital culture. The global diffusion of English has also given rise to growth of Indian English as an independent variety which needs to be taught for developing performance competence as part of English for Specific Purposes.
