Visit The Coronation Street Set
by
Lee Barratt
Coronation Street is one of the UK's biggest soaps. If you are a fan of the show, a trip around the set would be a dream come true. The fictional town of Weatherfield is where the show is based, and some fans of the show think that Weatherfield actually exists. Lets look at how you can visit the Coronation Street set.

Coronation Street: A Guilty Pleasure
by
Carlos Melville
Okay... time to fess-up. We all have them so why not admit it? I'm referring to those silly little things that give us a bit of simple happiness from time-to-time and are often called "guilty pleasures" although that does conjure up something more exotic.

Coronation Street: Is Karl Really Evil or Just a Desperate Addict?
by
B Nelson
With Karl Munro's confession that he destroyed one of the most iconic pubs in Britain and killed two people in the process last week on the street, we ask the question is Karl really evil or just a desperate addict? Of course there's no getting away from the fact Karl killed two people as a result of setting fire to the Rovers Return but is the man evil? We think that's a question up for debate, but one thing can be said for sure, Karl's an addict.

Auto Mechanic Training, Coronation Street-Style
by
Percey Evans
How realistic is the portrayal of auto mechanic training on TV? The example of Tyrone Dobbs on Britain's Coronation Street suggests not very.

From Ancient Greece to Coronation Street
by
Joyce E Maina
Think back fifty years ago, 1962, in the U.K. There were only two television channels: BBC and ITV. If you were looking for acting jobs back then, you would not think of television. In fact many of the actors who appeared on the first episode of Coronation Street, a year earlier, were not that keen, and wanted to get back to their "proper" jobs in the Theatre or on the radio.

Personalised Mugs: Manchester Style
by
Si Wright
Mug. It's a verb, meaning to attack. And it's a noun three times over, as an alternative to 'face', 'fool' and 'cup'. It's the latter that we're most interested in here, specifically personalised mugs. They're a great personalised gift, based on the fact they're both fun and affordable.

Feminist Media Studies And Soap Opera
by
Carl Doherty
The word 'feminist' is still a problematic term, with both feminism and media studies having suffered considerable disdain from the general public and educational authorities for decades. The relationship between feminists and feminist television studies has been similarly uneasy. Still a stigma surrounds such shows; despite evidence that soap audiences are both male and female, the soap opera is still generally regarded as a women's genre.

Do UK Soaps Subconsciously Promote a Booze Culture?
by
Nicholas M Benson
There have been many successful TV soaps in the UK including Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and a vast array of others but are UK soaps subconsciously promoting a booze culture amongst the young of the UK? Eastenders The vast majority of scenes in Eastenders are centred round the Queen Vic public house which has seen weddings, deaths, scandal and intrigue. It seems as though everybody in Eastenders has at some point entered the pub no matter what age they are.
