James Arthur Ray is Truly Honored in Spiritual Venues As Well As in Business
by
Karen Giardunio
Growing up the son of a Minister father served well to take in James sincere interest in Spiritual Ideology and in the Christian Faith. For James though, it only increased his curiosity and hunger for a greater understanding in what is often looked at through a very thin veil of Religion and/or Spirituality.

James Arthur Baldwin's Baptism and Ordination Into Preaching Leads Up to Writing
by
Arthur Smith
James Arthur Baldwin was born on August 2, 1924 and raised in Harlem, New York City, the oldest of nine children. His mother, Emma Berdis Jones, gave birth to James while she was single. He never met his biological father and may never have even known his identity. Instead, he considered his stepfather, David Baldwin, a factory worker and a store-front preacher, who was a lay preacher in the Holiness-Pentecostal sect as his father. When Baldwin was a toddler, David Baldwin, who would prove to be the bane of young Jame's existence married his mother. Though adopted by David Baldwin, James Baldwin never felt a sense of security or belonging in that family. He thus grew up in Harlem which he described as a "southern community displaced in the streets of New York" under extremely trying circumstances, growing up poor and unhappy in an environment of rigorous religious observance and dire poverty, especially after his mother's marriage to this domineering fundamentalist minister from New Orleans who seemed to hate him.

James Ray Sweat Lodge Incident - Spiritual Peer Pressure Versus Self Knowing
by
Generessa Rose
Recently, a sweat lodge ceremony took place in Sedona, Arizona, during a week-long "Spiritual Warrior" event under the direction of James Arthur Ray, self-help guru who was featured in The Secret. The hospitalizations and death of some sweat lodge participants motivate me to write about an issue that has concerned me for decades: Spiritual Peer Pressure versus Self Knowing.

Chester Arthur: The Happy Accident
by
John C Gregory
News management of the 20th century would never have allowed Chester Arthur to gain national prominence. Historians give this president scant attention. However, he turned out to be a maverick president and first-rate administrator. The new media of online outlets and political blogs may give rise to more choices. Perhaps a 21st-century Chester Arthur is in our future.

Movie Review - Arthur Christmas (2011) (PG)
by
Chris Pandolfi
Arthur Christmas breaks no new ground as an animated 3D film, but as a twist on the Santa Claus legend, it's charming, clever, and often times quite funny - too funny, at times, for really young children. What new things can we possibly learn about Jolly ol' St. Nick? For one thing, there has never been just one of him; the name Santa is, in fact, a title that's passed down from generation to generation.

Arthur Movie Review
by
S Martin
There are moments of genuine comedic genius in this updated remix of 1981′s Arthur, starring Dudley Moore, Liza Minelli, and John Gielgud. Here, Russell Brand portrays our titular loafer in wildly expensive loafers, while Helen Mirren takes Gielgud's spot as his live-in nanny Hobson. Greta Gerwig, affable and luminous as ever, takes over for Liza Minelli as Arthur's love interest/savior. He drinks more than anyone should, to a debilitating degree, and every time he steps out of his house, it's a party. Drinks are on him, of course. Most remakes today have nothing to offer audiences, and do nothing to improve upon or rethink the original films. Admittedly, this version of the popular Moore film (for which he was Oscar-nominated, and Gielgud won) doesn't do much to rethink the original, but the improvement is there. In the original film, Arthur's alcoholism isn't treated with the same touch (it's merely a plot point, it feels) and Brand's performance here has more heart than most things Moore did. Both are fine films, and this one certainly won't see the Oscars, but that doesn't stop it from being a warm and abstractly hilarious afternoon at the movies.

Now for a guy who takes an immediate disliking to Russell Brand the prospect of watching him for nearly 2 hours did not fill my heart with joy especially when he was to be acting as a rich layabout. But I buckled on down and watched away hoping to be pleasantly surprised and I have to say, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be (still nothing special mind). Arthur is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name and follows Arthur...

Movie Review: Arthur (2011)
by

The results of major plot points haven't changed, just the situations that deliver us to those memorable moments. In this way, Arthur succeeds, offering us a reminder of the poignancy and hilarity of the original 1981 film. Yet while the plot itself remains largely the same, many of the minor details and events have changed for the worse.

James and Jennifer - Famous Baby Names - 1970-1984
by
Tom Tessin
The girl's name of Jennifer is pronounced Jen-ee-fer is of Welsh origin and it means "fair one." The name is a variant of Guinevere in Mythology known as Arthur's Queen. The name is famous today because of some of the popular people who brought it to the public eye.
