Seamus Heaney

Seamus Heaney
Seamus Heaney. A Brief Introduction
by
Stephen Colbourn
Seamus Heaney was the son of a farmer who worked 50 hectares of land and kept cattle. His mother was an Ulsterwoman who never stopped talking while his father rarely spoke. So, early in life, Seamus Heaney found himself stood between speech and silence. Soon he learned of other divisions in Ireland and the world, and that greater world landed on the doorstep in 1943 when Americans built an airfield by the Heaneys' farm.

Collecting First Editions For Pleasure Or Profit
by
Justin Power
If the idea of making money from a hobby appeals to you, then you should consider collecting first edition books. Let me give you a real-life example. If you had bought a copy of the Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney's first collection of poetry, Death of a Naturalist, in 1999 you would have paid less than £300. Today the same book would sell for at least £1,500. Giving you the double satisfaction of owning a valuable, rare and famous book - and of making a 400% profit in under seven years.

The Irish Language
by
Emer Lavin
I learned the Irish language at school and in fact I chose it as one of 3 subjects for A level. To some people the Irish language is no longer relevant (too much Peig Sayers at school) but people who live as far afield as America and Canada have an interest in learning Irish as part of their heritage.

How to Write Poetry Books That Sell
by
Irene Watson
Poetry has the ability to move people in ways plain prose seldom does, yet most readers shy away from poetry because they think it is difficult to understand, boring, or not as informative as prose books. But a poetry book can sell if it has a gimmick or hook to entice readers.
