Breaking Bad: Cooking Up Something Good
by
Nancy McDonald
Rarely do I have the same night free every week in order to watch any given television show so I have a bucket list of things I'd like to watch before I die. Since its premiere, AMC's Breaking Bad has been on this list. I didn't know much about it at all other than that it starred the dad from FOX's Malcom in the Middle, he portrayed a high school chemistry teacher who gets cancer, and he starts making meth. But with the great word of mouth it received and then, eventually, all of the award nominations it received, it was a given that it would be watched sooner or later. Once the fifth and final season started this year, I noticed a lot of hoopla on Facebook concerning the episodes. I decided it was time. I was going to watch this Breaking Bad.

Movie Review - Red Tails (2012) (PG-13)
by
Chris Pandolfi
Red Tails is caught in a fatal tug-of-war between two narrative approaches. On one side, we have serious drama; the film is an historical account of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first ever group of African American fighter pilots to serve the United States military during World War II. On the other side, we have a stylistic homage; it's a generic war movie rife with threadbare cliches, some lightweight, some melodramatic, all of it dated and hopelessly predictable.

Top 10 TV Shows of 2009 You Need to Start Watching Now
by
Nicholas Shin
In this list of the Top 10 TV Shows of 2009 You Need To Start Watching Now, we will not be including any mass media hyped shows like Lost, Prison Break, The Office, 30 Rock and other already well known popular shows. Also, we will not be including any reality TV shows such as American Idol, America's Next Top Model, American's Best Dance Crew, etc. Our goal is to open your eyes to perhaps a new genre whether it's pure drama to dramedy (drama and comedy rolled into one) to sci-fi to pure comedy. We would love to hear your thoughts so feel free to comment on the list. Ridicule us, praise us, hate us, love us for our list.

Top Shows of 2009 - Are You Tuning In?
by
Tom Macintosh
There's a whole lot of TV out there. A fair amount is just rehashed old plots, love stories, cheap FX that don't look so great in HD, cheaper reality TV shows that amuse you for all of five seconds, and second rate comedies featuring old stars from the eighties, it's amusing stuff, but it's not stellar TV, nothing to get excited about; but then there are the true screen gems that knock your socks off and you simply cannot get enough of them.

Fear of the Dentist - Movies, Media and Negative Images
by
Dr. Dennis W. Bressack
Though we are quite respected within our communities and do possess the technology to create nearly painless dental experiences, dentistry has been and still remains the most feared and hated of all health professions... through books, cartoons, TV shows and films... that representation continues today... as well through the internet, websites, blogging, and YouTube movies. Even in 2010, there are still few if any positive dental characters or memorable passages from books or scenes from movies to counterbalance that negative image.

The Lincoln Lawyer
by
S Martin
Mick Haller (McConaughey) is a defense attorney, and a damn good one. We're not keyed in on his record of wins or losses, except for a few important ones, but I can imagine it's somewhere comparable to 50-3. Even the license plate on his Lincoln sedan reads "NTGUILTY," which is either a reminder to Haller himself that he earns an honest living, or just a mantra. He's a drinker, and then some. You can imagine his southern charm being effective not only in the courtroom, but on the women he encounters, too. He's genuine, but even that has its limits. Haller surrounds himself with clients and co-workers; outside of his ex-wife, Maggie (Marisa Tomei), and his private investigator, Frank (William H. Macy), I wonder if he has a true friend. The man's clients consist of murderers, rapists, prostitutes, drug dealers - the type of roster any star defense attorney might have.
