As an underground Hip Hop artist extraordinaire and songwriter in my past life, watching annual music awards shows was always a given. Nevermind the freakishly overt attempts to be extra-weird, the Grammys by far were my favorite because it was expected that I would get to see my favorite songs of the year performed live by my favorite artists. I would, in my expansive Indie Hip Hop artist mind, imagine that I would some day approach the stage with some trendsetting, urban attire to accept an award with my crew beside me.

In the US, we often get upset with our media and the tactics they employ - things such as 2-3 minute shouting matches and a hard commercial break, or content with a specific political agenda, almost as if their goal was to brain wash all us fishes out here in the sea of society. Still, what if our media didn't exist at all, rather what if the media was run by our leaders, who more than anything wanted to stay in power at any cost, including our health, safety, well-being or even lives? Well, that sort of media exists around the world today.

As biting, bitter cold and heavy snow blasted wintery rage at a large and unfortunate swath of the US, more than 3,000 astronomers made their way to National Harbor, Maryland, for what has been called the "Super Bowl of Astronomy"--the 223rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society. At the meeting, astronomers were treated to a series of lectures describing the many triumphs of NASA"s planet-finding Kepler Spacecraft, that came to an untimely end in May 2013. Nevertheless, this highly productive endeavor was a great success--the first mission capable of hunting for Earth-size alien worlds in our Galactic neighborhood, that dwell within their parent-star's "habitable zones". More than three-quarters of the 3,500 exoplanet candidates discovered by Kepler have sizes ranging from that of Earth to that of Neptune.
