In an article in the newspaper Epoch Times, David Gao, president of the Quit the CCP center, explained how the Chinese Communist Party were capitalising on the Sichuan earthquake to redirect the publics attention to Falun Gong to vent their anger. Much the way the Nazis used the Jews as a scapegoat for the country's problems.

Retailers Take Advantage of Earthquake Aid
by
John Gray
Following the earthquake in Sichuan on May 12th, China's major mobile phone networks China Unicom and China Mobile set up a special service that gave customers in affected areas extra mobile phone credit to ensure that people affected by the disaster did not run out of credit and could therefore contact love ones and call for help. Anyone in Aba, Chengdu, Deyang, Guangyuan and Mianyang on the China Mobile Shenzhou plan whose balance dropped below 50 yuan had 100 yuan added to there account between May 12th and May 31st.

Earthquakes Keep the World Rocking
by
Gordan Gumpertz
On average, an earthquake occurs somewhere in the world every 30 seconds. Most are in the 2.0 to 5.0 magnitude range, but destructive earthquakes in the 6.0 and higher range strike at the average rate of 3 per week. Most earthquakes are associated with the boundaries of tectonic plates. The majority of quakes occur on land, but some big ones happen deep below the ocean floor. It is these large undersea quakes that can start tsunamis.

The China Earthquake
Counselling Services
by
Stephen F. Myler
Abstract: This paper is in response to the work being carried out in China by counsellors in the field. China on May 12th suffered its worse earthquake for 30 years measuring 8 on the Richter scale, causing at this time over 70,000 deaths and millions of people homeless and injured. The Chinese government's response was mostly organized by the Party centrally from Beijing in servicing the immediate needs in the aftermath such as, temporary housing, warmth, food, water and rescue services. The central government sent some academic psychologists to the area who were ill equipped to understand the conditions there and certainly not trained in Critical Incidence Response.
