The Dish: Former Dallas Cowboys Fan Tells All
by
Christopher Harris
I used to be a Dallas Cowboys fan. I really did: I was born in New England and came to NFL consciousness in the mid-1970s. The six-year-old version of me latched onto America's Team. Maybe it was the shiny star. Maybe it was the pretty cheerleaders. I was a Roger Staubach fanatic. I freaked out when Jackie Smith dropped the TD pass in the Super Bowl. I cried about Danny White's futility. I loathe The Catch. I reveled in the Jimmy Johnson resurgence, and actually lived in Texas for the three-Super-Bowls-in-four-years. I suffered through the late '90s.

Entertaining America - The Staggering Cost in Dollars and Lives

An Eccentric French Architect and His Dream of Rebuilding a Castle
by
Maggie Stanfield
Axel Lettelier clearly is tenacious. Not only that, his determination on this particular project began at the age of 10. "My father brought me here then. I told him 'When I grow up, I want to buy this place.' I own it now. I bought it four years ago. I am a man of my word."

Supermarket Brands Are In Real Trouble
by
Tom Dougherty
What makes Wegmans so formidable? They learned their brand lessons well and are playing brand hardball. Borrowing on the specialty marketers like Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Bread
Circus, and the upscale brands of Four Seasons and Ritz Carleton, they recognized that brands that differentiated the customer enabled these brands to become destinations. They became a magnet for those seeking specialness, specialty, high quality foods, and experience - within a geographic area. When the shopper believed they were a more discriminating shopper (what we call a Brandface), these shoppers were willing to inconvenience themselves by traveling a greater distance to satiate that self-identifying need. They would also be willing to pay higher costs for that same self-identification.

Rebate Fundraisers

Deane Brengle
Twenty years ago nobody would have thought that by just doing your day-to-day shopping for groceries you could be fundraising for your group. Or that your usual shopping for household and business items could be generating money for your nonprofit too.
