Movie Review - Inglourious Basterds
by
Sheryl D
This weekend I was one of the many who went to see Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." The movie begins in the idyllic French countryside at the home of a dairy farmer and his three daughters. Down the country road rumble the Nazi soldiers led by the much dreaded Col. Hans 'Jew Hunter' Landa (a terrific Christoph Waltz). Landa believes the farmer is illegally harboring the Jewish Dreyfus family.

"Inglourious Basterds" Tops $100 Million Overseas
by
Averie Grace
Tarantino's film passes the $100 million mark overseas with no signs of slowing. It appears that "Basterds" will soon become his highest grossing picture.

Inglourious Basterds Review - A Black Comedy Tribute to World War II
by
Tony Y Chang
When the trailers of Inglourious Basterds were making the rounds, appearing left, right and centre on televisions and billboards, all we knew were the out-of-left-field, blood thirsty lieutenant Raine, played by Brad Pitt. It seemed a quirky enough reason to go see this movie, and check out what Quentin Tarantino was getting at with his spin on World War II.

Film Review: The Latest 'Buzz' About The Green Hornet
by
Andrew Joyce
With so many comic book franchises being adapted for the silver screen, this upcoming adaptation of the American classic, The Green Hornet, looks like a film you won't want to miss. Not just because of a stellar cast but also from what looks to be a slickly produced and directed film.

Movie Review - Carnage (2011) (R)
by
Chris Pandolfi
There are many moments in Roman Polanski's Carnage that elicited laughter from me, but that doesn't mean that I found it funny. If anything, it was an unconscious reaction, a defense mechanism against the ugliness the film depicts. The only experience I can liken it to is listening to your parents fight; as they scream at each other, you find yourself doing whatever's necessary to distract yourself, be it laugh, clap your hands, or simply cover your ears. If you examine this story from a distance, you may find that it really isn't a comedy at all.

The Green Hornet
by

It takes a certain kind of film to make me question the state of a genre. Certain horror movies make question the audiences that attend them, and certain movies that go on to win Oscars make me question the voters, but not since 1990′s Captain America (a horrid movie starring Matt Salinger as the first Avenger) have I sat down and thought about the state of a genre. I remember seeing that and being thankful that even after such a gigantic misfire we're still allowed Batman movies and Spider-Man movies and even another Captain America film (which appears to be infinitely better). The Green Hornet, you should know, is one of those certain films - I've seen it twice now and both times I've thought to myself, "Is this the state of the superhero film? This is what we've come to?"

The Dish: Ugly Americans At World Championships
by
Christopher Harris
There is no joy in Krzyzewski-ville. Maybe it's because they're holding the thing in Japan, so it's a bit of a challenge to watch on TV here in North America. Maybe it's because we've all still got the taste of the '02 World Championships from Indiana (seventh-place finish) and the '04 Olympics (third-place) in our mouths. Maybe it's because we still associate America in these world tournaments being represented by surly Allen Iverson and Stephon Marbury, and, well, we don't like those guys. But whatever the reason, nobody seems to care about the basketball World Championships.

"Inglourious Basterds" - The Hidden Message - Interrogation Vs Torture
by
Karl Mitchell
Inglourious Basterds is a remarkable movie well deserving of its critical acclaim (4 Stars) in spite of its conspicuous negatives (I will get into them at another time). Then again, Quentin Tarantino is Quentin Tarantino as he is defined by his other classics - Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction - two of his best works.
