Victoria Azarenka and Her Injury Woes
by
Karen Samartha Walker
When Victoria Azarenka won her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2012, the former World No. 1 made history by being the first from her country to ever win a Major title in singles event. The Belorussian also pushed herself among the elite group of women players and established rivalries with other top players on the WTA tour. However, after the triumph at Melbourne, the 23-year-old could not reproduce her winning performance in the later Slams that followed in that year, though she made it into the last four stage at the Wimbledon and the final at the US Open.

Sony Ericsson Open: Final Preview
by
Paula Vergara
The 2011 "Glam Slam" final is almost upon us, but is likely not the final that anyone anticipated at the Sony Ericsson Open. No underdogs. No clear favorite. No Kim, No Caroline. It will be an exciting match for sure, and undoubtedly, loud. Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova, known for their high-decibel "shrieks" while striking a ball, haven't faced each other in a final since Stanford (2010).

World number 8 Kvitova who qualified by beating Yanina Wickmayer in the round of 16 is yet to drop a set in her four matches so far. Prediction: Sharapova Poised To Win Wimbledon 2011 Crown
by
Suresh Iyer
Russia's Maria Sharapova faces Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova in her bid for a second Wimbledon title, to add to the first one she won, in 2004. This promises to be a hard-fought match between two women in prime form, and a win by either woman could help define the new order of women's tennis, with the younger players ready and willing to take the baton from the old guard of the Williams sisters and Kim Clijsters.
