Habs to Retire Patrick Roy's Montreal Canadiens Jersey Nov 22nd
by
Dennis Lindsay
After the 1993 Stanley Cup playoffs it seemed unthinkable that the Habs would need to carefully consider retiring Patrick Roy's Montreal Canadiens jersey some day. At that point in his career Roy had almost single-handedly won the Montreal Canadiens 2 Stanley Cups, and was already a shoe-in for the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame, and Montreal Canadiens' fans looked forward to many more years of success with Patrick Roy tending the nets for them.

Montreal Canadiens - 100 Seasons and Counting
by
Robert Melkonyan
Certainly a great support network is what puts a great team in the best position to take home the Stanley Cup. The Montreal Canadiens have it. Coaches include head coach Guy Carbonneau, assistant coach Kirk Muller, assistant coach Doug Jarvis and assistant coach Roland Melanson.

Montreal Canadiens Trivia
by
Thomas D. King
The Canadiens made the transition into the NHL by retaining the playing rights to four players after the National Hockey Association disbanded. The Habs began the 1917 - 18 season with Didier Pitre, Georges Vezina, Joe Malone and Newsy Lalonde in the lineup.

2010-11 Montreal Canadiens NHL Predictions and Odds
by
Nicholas Tolomeo
The Montreal Canadiens improbable playoff run last season raises a few questions. How did Montreal manage to win two Game 7s on the road, one against top-seed Washington and another against defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh? Where had that Montreal team been all regular season when it struggled just to get into the postseason? And then how did that same Montreal team get blown away by No. 7 seed. And, of course, the question most pertinent to this season, why is the hero of those playoffs, Jaroslav Halak, now suiting up for the St. Louis Blues?

Toronto Maple Leafs Vs. Montreal Canadiens Outlook
by
Don Goldman
Most National Hockey League spectators and experts may be leaning toward the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011-2012 rankings, but the Toronto Maple Leafs have won four games out of six as of their last game on October 20. That is compared to the Canadiens' one win and five losses. Canada will surely be watching this face-off on Saturday, October 22, when the Maple Leafs and Canadiens duke it out at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Anyone who wants to have a working understanding of the history of hockey needs to be familiar with the Montreal Canadiens (note: "Canadiens," the French spelling, is the correct spelling of the team name). Speaking of French, a French nickname for the team is "Les Habitants," and are sometimes called "the Habs" in English.

What Did the Playoffs Really Mean for the Montreal Canadiens?
by
Benjamin Twain
What made the Montreal Canadiens playoff run so successful last spring? Two athletes come to mind. Michael Cammalleri and Jaroslav Halak. Without those two, the Canadiens wouldn't have beaten the Caps in the first round. However, I think (dramatists cover your ears) that those two were overrated.

Montreal Canadiens 2010-2011 Early Season Run Down
by
Andrew Charbonneau
After a great playoff run last spring the Canadiens are back at it and on the hunt for the 2010-2011 Stanley Cup Championship. General Manager Pierre Gauthier didn't make very many changes during the off season but he did tweak the team...
