Dream New Dreams: Reimagining My Life After Loss by Jai Pausch-Memoir Book Review
by
Timothy Zaun
On September 18, 2007, Randy Pausch delivered his now, world renowned speech entitled, "The Last Lecture." Pausch was a professor of computer science at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University, diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. The Last Lecture urged people to live life to the fullest. On July 25, 2008, Randy died. Pausch is survived by his wife Jai and three children. As Randy's primary guardian, Jai realized that most cancer resources and support groups focused mainly on patients and not enough on the caregivers. Jai's debut book, "Dream New Dreams," honors caregivers. She also describes the behind-the-scenes pain Randy endured, and its toll on the family. Ultimately, Dream New Dreams is about the Pausch family's rebirth while honoring Randy's legacy...

Music Review: Slumdog Millionaire
by
Gautam Chintamani
Nothing can prepare you for the sound of Slumdog Millionaire. The album mirrors the magical journey of Jamal, a slum dweller who goes on to win a million rupees on Kaun Banega Crorepati.

I Am Movie Review
by
Gautam Chintamani
Four stories and a million emotions is the best way to describe Onir's I Am. The fiercely independent manner in which I Am got made--more than 400 different people from across the world contributed to the cost of the film--seems to have rubbed off on Onir's approach to I Am. Four stories that explore societal fear in one form or the other, I Am is just what an independent film should be--daring, different and thought provoking.

Movie Review: "A Good Day to Die Hard"
by
Zack Mandell
The problem with some movie franchises is that watching them over the years becomes less of a diversion and more of an obligation. Not only do storylines manage to drift with the characters, but franchise films also have a high degree of predictability. It's well known that even-numbered "Star Trek" films are huge disappointments and that the "Scary Movie" franchise stopped being funny halfway through the first movie, although sometimes a series takes on a life of its own. Something like this seems to be happening with the "Die Hard" movies.

Music Review of The Moola Mantra by Deva Premal
by
Steve Ryals
The Moola Mantra is perhaps their finest album yet, gracefully weaving Deva's transcendently pure voice, sitar, bansuri flute, dotar, tabla, piano, string quartet and ambient electronica into a richly layered tapestry of sacred chants that honor all traditions, religions, creeds and spiritual paths. Deva Premal sings with the voice of an angel, the heart of one who has known love and loss, and the soul of an enlightened Master.

As is often the case with great compilations, one of the joys of Yoga Motion is the opportunity to get to know some terrific artists who you might not otherwise get to hear. I urge you to spend some time soon with the exotic music on this album.

Vijendra Trighatia
Sholay is a watershed in the history of Indian Cinema. Although made from a lifted storyline it is a superbly directed movie. An Indian western!

Movie Review: Turning 30 Steps Away
by
Gautam Chintamani
The good thing about a film like Turning 30, is that not only did it get made but also got a proper plot. Now the sad part about such a film is that it promotes a kind of mindset that is downright scary. Alankrita Shrivastava's bittersweet take on a woman's life spiraling out of control...
