Revisiting China - Exploring Beijing as a Tourist and Investor
by
Vinnie Apicella
My first trip to China occurred nearly ten months earlier. It was the furthest I had ever traveled outside the U.S. This time I was more at ease in preparing for my recent departure.

Three Tips to Help Your Search for Beijing Office Space
by
Jeff Molenda
Over the last few years the cost of office rent in Beijing has rocketed at a rate faster than virtually any other city on earth. Prime office rents rose by an astounding 75 per cent in 2011, the fastest increase of any city, in addition to the 48 per cent increase of 2010. This runaway inflation of rental prices has quickly made Beijing the fifth most expensive city on the planet for office rental, behind Hong Kong, London, Tokyo and Moscow. Space in the city center is at a premium as there is simply no more room to build. The traditional hutongs of the center are all but gone, the single-floor traditional houses replaced with towering skyscrapers and the narrow, bicycle-strewn alleys replaced with bustling expressways.

Vicissitudes of Modernization: Narration and Nuance in China
by
Paul J Kim
Anyone who has spent any time thinking about the past knows that the body of knowledge we call history is constantly growing and how we understand it changes as a result of growth. In a world of increasingly dramatic generational shifts and increasingly complex socio-economic and geo-political circumstances, I know that I am lucky to work at a school that supports its faculty's efforts to become better teachers and thinkers with generous opportunities for professional development.

Thailand's Short Term Economic and Political Perspective 2010
by
Niels Jeffreys
Thai economic growth is projected to rise between approximately 4 to 5 percent on higher exports and rising economic fundamentals in 2010, reflecting increases in tourist arrivals and employment, as well as the new AFTA Asian Free Trade Agreement. However, political difficulties and domestic turbulence should also be factored in.

Chongqing - Importance Unrecognized
by
Andrew Francis Snape
The Guardian once described Chongqing as the biggest city in the world you've never heard of. I'm not sure that's completely true, bearing in mind that the population numbers quoted about this place always refer to the larger municipality (30 million) rather than the city itself (5 million), but suffice to say that Chongqing is big, very big, and getting a lot bigger.
