Santana to the Mets - Ace or Albatross?
by
Mark Burt
Well the big news of the weekend in baseball is that the Mets came to agreement on a long-term contract with star lefthander Johan Santana, thus finalizing their deal with the Minnesota Twins. Santana and the Mets inked a $137.5 million, six-year contract on Friday evening followed by Santana's passing his physical on Saturday, completing the four for one deal which sent the Twins four top prospects.

Robert Ferringo
Second chances. That's the theme of the National League playoffs this season, and St. Louis, Atlanta, Houston or San Diego is going to take advantage of their most recent opportunity and hopefully turn it into a World Series championship.

Five Young MLB Arms Poised For Superstardom on Satellite TV
by
John R. Harrison
One of the treats of an MLB Extra Innings package is seeing the rising stars in either league. From David Beckham in Chicago to Tim Lincecum in San Francisco, 2009 had so many moments for the youth movement. Checking in with a satellite TV MLB package in 2010, viewers are advised to follow young pitchers. Here are five to watch.

What If Baseball Did Things Differently?

2007 Atlanta Braves Preview
by
William Young
The Braves missed out on the stale Champagne celebration in 2006 after 14 consecutive division titles in the previous years. The Atlanta Braves finished third in the National League East behind the Mets and Phillies. As if that weren't enough of a stunner, the principal culprit was pitching. The Braves ranked second in the NL in runs scored and first in slugging percentage, but finished tied for 10th with a .460 team ERA. With the Mets loading up, Pat Gillick reconfiguring the Phillies' roster, and the Marlins stockpiling young arms, it's going to be a challenge for the Braves to rediscover their old mojo in 2007.

Backing the Braves
by
Jimmy Boyd
The Atlanta Braves had recorded 14 straight NL East Division titles heading into last season. They left me no reason to believe they wouldn't get number 15 in 2006 as the NL East has traditionally been one of the weakest divisions in baseball.

Early MLB Betting Trends
by
Erin Rynning
We're not even three weeks into the major league baseball season, but already several story lines from a betting perspective have been in play. Low scoring games seem to be the current theme as 105 games have gone UNDER the total, while just 88 have played OVER the total. Cold weather has been the catalyst for the lower scoring trend with many games being played at below average temperatures, especially across the Midwest and East Coast.
