ICC World Cup 2011: Are India, Pakistan Heading For Quarter-Final Showdown?
by
Suresh Iyer
India's loss to South Africa has enhanced the chances of an India-Pakistan match-up in the quarter-finals of ICC World Cup 2011. Conventional wisdom, garrulous as it is, also tells us that India are likely to finish second in Group B. Depending on whether they want to meet South Africa or India, in the quarter-finals, Pakistan should aim for a high or low NRR, while beating Zimbabwe, on March 14.

Zimbabwe Cricketers - Henry Olonga
by

Some sportsmen make more of a mark off the field than on it. This was certainly the case with former Zimbabwean fast bowler, Henry Olonga. The first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe possessed more than an interesting head of hair. He possessed character and raw talent that remained unfulfilled at the highest level. Olonga had the willingness and ability to bowl fast, although he was typically fast and inaccurate. Beyond that, he was the inspiration for young black cricketers in Zimbabwe before political instability wrecked its cricket.

Zimbabwe Cricketers - Grant Flower
by
Darrell Victor
The Flower brothers-Andy and Grant-were an institution in Zimbabwe cricket for more than a decade. Andy was genuine class while Grant was a handy cricketer- a batsman who could bowl and an excellent fielder in any position. This southpaw was actually a right-handed batsman- one of several cricketers who believed that greater control of the bat could be achieved like that. However, Grant bowled slow left arm orthodox deliveries- a part-time bowler who often picked up crucial wickets for Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Legends - Andy Flower
by
Darrell Victor
If you bowled to a fellow nicknamed 'Petals' you might fancy your chances. However, Andy 'Petals' Flower was the only Zimbabwean batsman in full bloom during the 1990s. He was considered to be the only world-class batsman from Zimbabwe and one of the best players of spin bowling in the world. Flower's strokes were not always as pretty as his name suggests, but he was an inventive stroke-player who excelled in all forms of the game.

India - Sri Lanka Test Series - Muralitharan Awaits Number 800
by
Suresh Iyer
When you attempt to profile a habitual record breaker like Muralitharan, you run the risk of drowning, without recourse, in statistics. I shall try not to drown, by trying merely to read the story hidden within the numbers, and hopefully, I will not need cardio pulmonary resuscitation to revive me.
