government shutdown
A Government Shutdown Is a Political Shutdown
by
Andre Audette
Republicans and Democrats are engaging in a war of words right now, blaming each other for failing to stop an impending government shutdown. A government shutdown would indeed be a failure: not of a single party but both parties. This blame is simply rhetoric to disguise their own lack of a better plan.

Avoid a Possible Government Shutdown Selloff
by
Jesse S. Cash
It is extremely likely that we are heading towards a market selloff in the next couple of weeks, due to the extremely likelihood of a upcoming government shutdown. In a flashback to the 1990's, we are probably sailing directly towards a government shutdown, with two sides locked in combat. John Boehner, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, is steering the ship of state directly toward a conflict with the Democratic Senate and President.

Yet Another Government Shutdown Threat!
by
Kevin Chace
FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is saying that it may run out of money by the end of this week. As usual Politicians say we have no crisis, we have a crisis, then it's the democrats fault, and finally it is the two party republicans fault. So what is the truth?

Why a Government Shutdown Is Basically A Done Deal
by
Jesse S. Cash
We are heading for a government shutdown. It is practically already written in stone, and the policy wonks who say otherwise are fooling themselves and the readers/listeners. While I certainly hope I am wrong, I don't believe that we will be that lucky as a nation. There are many reasons a shutdown is likely, and several reasons you need to protect yourself from its effects.

Government Shutdown Scare Tactics: Both Parties Culpable
by
Andrew Maz
Government shutdown is more than just a scare tactic! In a time when jobs are scarce, wage deflation is rampant, democrats (in the majority) have neglected to send a budget for approval to the president. Instead they chose to ignore and cast blame on Republicans.

The Looming Government Shutdown
by
Darren Hamels
Congress has until midnight on March 5 to come up with some sort of continuing resolution to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year. If this does not happen, the federal government will shut down. This means that public employees stop working and get no pay.

First Rule of Good Governance: Never Negotiate With Democrats
by
Scott Spiegel
On Saturday President Obama magnanimously announced that he was willing to support cutting $33 billion from 2010 federal spending levels for 2011-which, for the mathematically challenged, is about 1% of infinity. Congressional Democrats screamed that these cuts were way too large. Republicans countered that the cuts didn't go far enough and should be extended to $61 billion, which amounts to about 2% of infinity.

The Great Government Spending Spree, and the Greater Lack of Results
by
Roger McIntyre
Mr. Obama has spent astronomical sums since assuming office, yet we seem no better off. Part of the blame falls on his economic advisors, who have yet to receive the news that Keynesian, or Neo-Keynesian economics, died a long time ago.

Only Essential Federal Government Employees Need to Report to Work On Friday April 7, 2011
by
Lance Winslow
During this 'just made for media' political debate on the Federal Budget and spending allocations the rhetoric is getting a little bit too thick to swallow. President Obama warns us (using the fear-factor to his advantage) that if the Federal Government shuts down for even a week that it will have serious implications for our economic recovery - "dire implications" in fact were some of his words. That is an interesting created reality for the mass media, but the implications wouldn't be a bad thing, they'd be a good thing, namely saving $10s of billions of dollars.
