It's June and That Means World Environment Day and World Oceans Day
by
Lainie Anderson
World Environment Day (5th June) and World Oceans Day (8th June) place a spotlight on the great importance of conservation and the role that the oceans play in the health and vitality of the planet. It reminds us that we are all connected to one another through the planet's oceans. World Environment Day's theme this year is Think, Eat, Save and prompts us to reduce the amount of foods that we waste. Many other steps exist that can also help the world's oceans while reducing pollution levels. Manufactured goods require energy and water but there are now ways to salvage manufactured goods to help reduce our carbon footprint and one way is to replace damaged sunglass lenses.

by
Mike Nemeth
World Environment Day is an event I've never paid any attention to. But maybe I should. It came and went on June 5 but sounds pretty interesting, and Mother Earth could use a little help.

On World Environment Day - Tips to Make Pune Greener
by
Anil Pharande
The problem of pollution is much lower in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, thanks to its green cover, carefully controlled real estate development norms and wider roads. But if we want a sustainable tomorrow, each of us must begin to think 'Green' on an individual level.

World Earth Day - Small Actions To Make A Huge Difference
by
Andrew James Laycock
This Sunday, the 22nd April, marks World Earth day when up to a billion people will come together to give thanks for our planet and make a pledge to help protect and support it.
I have always had an affinity with World Earth day. Partly this is because I was born around the time of the first ever World Earth day and the collective power of people as they came together to protect the earth and the growing awareness of the need to safeguard the environment did something to the energy circulating around the earth at...

World Water Day 2013: Making It Work Through Hell and High Water!
by
Rakesh Bhosale
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' puts it perfectly, without a glitch (if you can overlook my own spin to it). Samuel Taylor Coleridge never would have dreamt that his creative thoughts will become the harsh realities of H2O status line world-wide, just couple of centuries down the line. It has become a bumpy ride. UN estimates that by 2025, forty-eight nations, with combined population of 2.8 billion, will face freshwater 'stress' or 'scarcity'. Less than 1% of the world's fresh water (or about 0.007% of all water on earth) is readily accessible for direct human use, especially in the wake of water pollution scaling pinnacles rapidly. But then, as they say, "You never miss the water till the well runs dry." And I am more than sure that we all, beyond doubt, dread that day.
