Snowden
Snowden's Huge Gamble Leaking Massive Data Collection Story
by
Bill Honer
Edward Snowden had a well-paying job as an intelligence analyst with high security clearance. Although already depicted by some conservative politicians as a "technician", he was in fact an analyst who had been a former senior adviser to the CIA. Edward Snowden and intelligence analyst living in Hawaii, which is to say he was living in paradise. I say that as a former resident of Hawaii. In effect, he sacrificed a large salary and pleasant lifestyle to inform the American people how their privacy rights had been eliminated and abused by both Congress and the Administration. Will the result be worth the sacrifice?

Edward Snowden Is in Good Company
by
Karl Mitchell
Edward Snowden is charged with espionage under the Espionage Act of 1917. The Espionage Act of 1917 was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson as an incentive against individuals "protesting" against World War I. From 1917 to the Obama Presidency, only three people have been charged under the Espionage Act of 1917. Since the Obama Presidency, seven people have been charged under the Act.

An American Who Deserves Asylum
by
Larry M. Elkin
Our many checks and balances normally make it unnecessary for Americans to seek asylum abroad. That's not true for Edward Snowden.

by
Ross Monnett
With the recent revelations of NSA domestic spying by whistleblower Edward Snowden, and the massive collection of data on the American citizenry, many have asked, "What's the big deal?" In a world where every bit is retained and everything is illegal, what is the eventual outcome? Why it matters.

The Government Is Snooping Into The Personal Information Of Private Citizens
by
Robert Bradshaw
Recently, it has been coming out that our government has been snooping into the personal data and information of private citizens. This isn't just a recent incident that has been uncovered either. This type of behavior by our government has been going on for a very long time. The difference now is that we are discovering how extensive this snooping is. It is now time for us as a nation to turn the microscope back onto our government so that everyone can see what is really going on behind the curtain of their government sponsored media.

The Surveillance State Through the PRISM of Fiction
by
Tony MC
Few sci-fi writers of the past could have envisaged a future where we are all Little Brothers, constantly 'spying' on our friends and family through Facebook and Twitter; and gladly giving away our own geolocations, timelines, photos, curriculum vitae, uninformed opinions and television viewing habits for others to spy on... including Big Brothers like the NSA, GCHQ and their Chinese counterparts.

Domestic Surveillance: When Everything Is Illegal
by
Ross Monnett
The recent revelations about NSA domestic surveillance take on a new meaning and menacing context in light of the staggering number of criminal and statutory laws under which the average American could be indicted.. The generous byproduct of a fulltime legislature at the national, state and local levels is an infinite number of legal statutes, both civil and criminal that is literally impossible to keep up with. Even for the authorities tasked with enforcing them. In fact, the total number cannot, and has never been calculated. The only thing that those who study this know is that the number of criminal statutes in the US grows exponentially every year, with outdated laws rarely actually leaving the books.
