In Defense of the Westboro Baptist Church
by
Gene Lalor
Now that the threat of a demonstration by zealots of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church to create a disturbance at the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards has passed, it's an opportune time to reassess just what Westboro is up to, what it wants, and why those zealots do what they do. In a previous life, actually in a previous post dated almost a year ago, I wrote about that "The Westboro Baptist Congregation, the WBC, so thrives on outlandish and hateful propaganda that it must be regarded as one of the worst organizations in the nation in terms of vicious...

Counter Protest to Westboro Baptist Church
by
Skip Conover
In my opinion, the behavior of the members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, who take it upon them selves to picket and protest at the funerals of service members killed in action, is highly inappropriate. I personally cannot understand how they envision that they in any way represent either the teachings of Jesus Christ or Almighty God.

7 Ways to Identify a False Church
by
Marcos D Torres
There's a ton of churches out there... The funny thing is that if you ask any of these, "Are you guys a false church?" They will all say no. Some may even begin to tell you how all the other ones are false churches and how theirs is the only right one.

Death of a Son
by
Wendy Burtt
Albert Snyder buried his son Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder in 2006 amidst the chaos of an unwelcome religious protest. His son's funeral gave hate a chance to be heard. Why?

Developments In The LGBT Church, How Gays Are Winning Back Their Right To Go To Church
by
Patrick Warren
It must be one of the most sensitive issues in modern day religion. Despite the progress that has been made on a political level, with same sex relationships being recognized in several states in the US, the mixing of homosexuality and religious practices seems to remain a taboo.

Pastor to Burn Koran - Media to Burn Conscience
by
Michael Bresciani
The changes surrounding Pastor Terry Jones announcement to burn the Koran (Quran) may outlive the point of this article. The latest round of news is that Jones may cancel the burning; or not.

Defending the Right to Hate
by
Greg Reeson
The Westboro Baptist Church stages protests at the funerals of our military men and women killed in Afghanistan and Iraq because they believe God is mad at the United States and is therefore killing our soldiers. While their actions are morally reprehensible, their actions are protected under the rights of freedom of speech and assembly.

Defending the Right to Hate (Part 2)
by
Greg Reeson
Protests at military funerals inflame passions on all sides of the debate. Free speech advocates tout their right to assemble and protest and veterans groups and family members are appalled by graveside disturbances. While the protests are mean, morally bankrupt, and in plain bad taste, they are based on sound legal principles protected by the Constitution of the United States.
