The sequel becomes the first topic of conversation after a movie, especially a super hero film, has great reviews and even greater box office. Such was the case for the first Iron Man movie. Most people weren't expecting such a perfect origin story, incredible acting, outstanding special effects and (most shocking of all) that Robert Downey Jr. became Tony Stark.

John Favreau's vision of the comic icon is well presented, providing full details for the greatest of fans and still managing to capture the audience's attention throughout the entire movie. Aside from Chris Nolan's success in rebooting the cape and cowl franchise, the house that Stan Lee built has always had the advantage over the Distinguished Competition when it comes to big screen adaptations of their intellectual properties, especially in the age of modern CG effects. When you compare the $30 million Jonah Hex lost at the box office to the $112 million Iron Man 2 brought in over its $200 million budget, it's plain to see that round 2010 goes to Marvel again.

As comic book denizens will know, Iron Man is the invention of Tony Stark, a 30-something genius inventor who inherited Stark Industries from his father at the tender age of 21. Prior to that, at age 15 his penchant for brilliance took him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he would earn two college degrees: one in physics and the other in engineering. On the most recent Forbes Fictional 15, his net worth of $9.4B places him at the number six slot - two spots above the much more conservative true identify of Batman, Bruce Wayne (Whose $7B net worth is still nothing upon which to sneeze.). Incidentally, he is right behind #5 Jed Clampett (The Beverly Hillbillies), but oil inheritance and country living doesn't sell any comic books.
