Bird Hunting on the South Plains of West Texas
by
Dave Branson
Hunting is a Texas tradition, and down here there are plenty of places to hunt everything from birds to big game. A great attraction to the plains of West Texas is the huge variety of birds available to hunt. The southern portion of this region, known as the South Plains, plays host to a large number of turkey, a growing population of ring-neck pheasant, plenty of bob white and blue quail, and an amazing number of mourning and white wing dove.

Truck Wash Location Analysis for North West Texas
by
Lance Winslow
When putting in a truck wash you need to consider many things such as truck traffic counts, competition, labor availability, water supply and costs to put up a building, buy equipment and reclaim systems to treat the water. In Northwest TX there is significant truck traffic traveling all the back roads on major highways and on the main interstates.

Abilene, Texas
by
John Parks
Abilene is a small city in central West Texas that started out around 1880 as not much more than a cattle stock shipping point on the Texas and Pacific Railway. The railroad still divides the city down the center with the historic downtown area on the north side.

Brewster County - Where the West Still Lives!
by
Kip Piper
Texas --- the only state whose charter to this day allows it to secede from the United States! And tucked away in the state's far southwest corner, Brewster County stands as a living history of cowboys, cattlemen, ranches, and rugged individualism. Only about 10,000 residents currently live in this county that is larger in area than the combined size of the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut. Standing as witness to the county's history is the Brewster County courthouse, set in the largest Big Bend area town of Alpine.

Why I Like Stories About the Old West
by
Ray Ham
When I was a young boy, I enjoyed playing Cowboys and Indians. In the late 40s and early 50s, west Texas was a wonderful place to act out my childhood imagination. Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, and The Lone Ranger were my favorites. I wore the toy guns and holsters, chaps, and boots to get the feeling of being a real cowboy. I played all day long, pretending to shoot the bad guys and to fight the Indians.

How to Get to the Big Bend of Texas
by
Abe Connally
Big Bend is one of the most remote areas of the lower 48 states. Because of this, it can be hard to visit, unless you have a good idea of how to get here and how to get around once you are here. Traveling to the Big Bend can be part of your adventure, but that excitement soon fades if you haven't planned your route well.
