After 17 strong seasons, Jay Leno says goodnight for the last time on his television program "The Tonight Show". However, don't cry just yet. Leno has announced that he is going to be doing a prime time comedy show starting this fall! Yes, the 59 year old comedian is moving to the prime time line up. Viewers of the "Tonight Show" were saddened to hear of Jay Leno leaving the show but were immediately overjoyed to hear of his new comedy show this fall.

He was born in New York, on 28th April 1950 as James Douglas Muir Leno to parents Catherine, a homemaker, and Angelo, an insurance salesman. They were of Scottish and Italian heritage. He is heard commenting more on his Italian heritage. Leno grew up in Massachusetts and suffered from dyslexia. Although he later went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Speech Therapy from Emerson College, Boston in 1972.

Jay Leno's prime-time show was a flop by the standards of NBC affiliate stations. They lost money because nobody was there to watch the evening news. There was also fewer viewers to watch Conan. The Tonight Show ratings could have been down because of Leno. As soon as the NBC mess unfolded, Conan's ratings surpassed Letterman.
