Harry Preston
The Anne Frank Stichting (foundation) was founded in 1957 to combat anti-Semitism and racism and to promote "the ideals set down in the diary of Anne Frank". Anne's greatest wish was to become a journalist and famous writer. Her diary was to serve as the basis for a book she hoped to publish entitled "the Secret Annexe".

Universal Themes and Family in Faulkners "Barn Burning" and "The Diary of Anne Frank"
by
Paul Thomson
Despite being only some one hundred paragraphs long, William Faulkner's 1938 short story "Barn Burning" pals around in quite the variety of literary circles. Since its protagonist, Sarty, is a ten-year-old boy who breaks away from his family to forge his own identity, it is probably best defined as a coming-of-age tale. Then again, the story's depiction of small-town Southern life, morally-ambiguous characters, suspense, injustice, and insanity have all the characteristics of the Southern Gothic genre.

Ann Frank's Tree is Diseased - Is This a Sign to Warn Us?
by
Lance Winslow
The Tree out front of Ann Frank's hiding place is now diseased and the museum folks are working to save it, with only moderate success. Ann Frank was an optimist and thought that people were mostly good natured. Recently, this topic of conversation came up at the Online Think Tank, when a potential member stated:

'Fear Itself' In The Diary of Anne Frank
by
Paul Thomson
Hundreds of fantastic novels, essays and other writings have been penned about Nazi Germany. Gruesome, shocking portrayals of what went on in the concentration camps, how many lives were lost, the aftermath and prospect of dealing with indescribable grief that followed. But The Diary of Anne Frank is not about any of those things.

Holland Travel - Amsterdam, Van Gogh, Anne Frank
by
Richard Chapo
Holland certainly has a reputation with travelers. Known for having a very liberal attitude on social issues such as prostitution and drugs, the reputation is not always deserved. Yes, marijuana and prostitution is legal, but there is so much more to the country. Many look at Amsterdam as Holland, but visitors know there is much more. If you desire to travel to Holland, also known as the Netherlands, don't miss these attractions.
