Success and Notoriety: What Aristotle Onassis's Life Reveals
by
George Kouloukis
When World War II broke out in 1939-1940, Onassis was not anxious at all. On the contrary, he predicted the hostilities would end soon. To avoid any trouble, however, he left Europe in June 1940 and settled in New York, in a luxurious apartment on Park Avenue. But soon after the declaration of war, he realized that things were not as simple as he thought. Most of his fleet -particularly the tankers- was immobilized in hostile countries. Only some aged small ships he had bought in 1932 were available. So, his revenues were beginning to decline dramatically. He started living a tedious unsatisfying life, and rented an old house in New York.

Happiness and Fame: What Jackie Kennedy Onassis's Life Reveals
by
George Kouloukis
Ex-U.S. first Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis was born in 1929 as Jacqueline Bouvier, on Long Island, New York. That year's stock market crash had severely hurt the fortunes of her father, John Bouvier, giving her "a sense of insecurity and fear of poverty," as her biographer Sarah Bradford says.

Pretending or Being a Lover
by
Vlady Peters
When Maria Callas first appeared on the international scene, she sang like a bird, looked like a small whale, and the only people who truly knew and loved her were the perennial ticket-holding opera lovers. Few years later, looking like Audrey Hepburn, photographers couldn't get enough of her face and body, socialites overwhelmed her with invitations to their yachts and private planes, and rich men kept their beds warm ever hopeful that she might, one day consent, to join them there. Yes, the world and its' inhabitants are superficial.

by
Martyna Bizdra
We all know great achievers. Women that changed our perception of the reality in some way. Their performance usually amuses us, often brings tears- when one sees the level of greatness human being can achieve. But the question also is- what the price of such unspeakable level of skills is, and whether they were happy in their lives or not.

Young Women Who Kiss Frogs
by
Michael M Walsh
Did Hollywood set the trend with ageing male stars pulling babes young enough to be their daughters or is that so unusual in real life? It seems not unless it is the other way around. In The Graduate, the older woman, Ann Bancroft, is only six years older than Dustin Hoffman. The play however raised moral issues of predatory females laced with moral corruption. Would Madonna have been as pilloried if her toy boy relationship had been the other way around?
