Working Closer in a Collapsing Economy
by
Kare Anderson
"Even people who are antisocial feel a need to be around other people for at least part of the day while they're working," says researcher Laura Forlano. That's why soloists are bootstrapped into being a co-working space in Austin called Conjunctured.

The Invisible Women of the Great Depression
by
Kathy A. McMahon
What can urban women's experiences during the Great Depression teach us about today's economic hard times? This article reviews the little we know about single women and women of color as they managed economically during the worst economic upheaval in U.S. history. While photographs of men in breadlines and "Hoovervilles" are etched in our minds, missing are images of homeless and hungry urban women whose economic status was even more dire. These "invisible women" were very much a part of this painful time, and suffered the hunger and homelessness every bit as oppressive as men. This article discusses the experiences of college-educated and working-class women during this time period and examines the unique challenges they faced.

September 11, 2001 Dissected
by
Joe Crubaugh
What really happened on September 11, 2001? Many people who were witness and victim to the tragedy agree that, without help from both Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, the official theory fails to explain the catastrophic events of that day. But, connect the dots, and the picture that most clearly takes shape is an inside job that exploited a genuine terrorist plot.

Youth Sports Today - What Would Joe Tomlin Think?
by
Doug Rogers
In 1988, four years after attending our wedding, Joe Tomlin passed away at the age of 85. As I've watched and coached hundreds of various youth baseball, hockey, soccer and basketball games in recent years, I've often wondered what Joe would think about today's modern manifestation of his original four-team league created 83 years ago, 10 years before Carl Stotz was to organize the first Little League game in Williamsport, PA. I'm guessing that at times Joe would struggle to find the connection between the simple principles he employed back then, and the commercialism and emotional fervor surrounding youth sports today.

Do We Really Need to Know What Happened on September 11, 2001?
by
John E Poole
On September 11, 2001, the World shifted from what it was to what it is. Of course, like most people on this planet, I remember it like it was yesterday when it was actually eight years ago. I remember walking out of my car at about 8 am eastern time from the parking lot of the engineering firm outside Philadelphia where I was working. I remember taking the steps up to the back entrance of the office. I also remember pausing for a moment.
